About AVA Spanish
¡Hola! I'm Álvaro Villamor Augusta (AVA), the creator behind AVASpanish.
I was born and grew up in Salamanca, a beautiful, enigmatic city and the historic heart of the Spanish language.
Although teaching wasn’t my original path, I discovered a true passion for helping others learn and understand English from a young age, yet always refusing the idea of becoming a teacher. I moved to England in 2015 and spent several years working in other industries before following my real calling: education. That passion evolved even further when I decided to start private tutoring Spanish in 2018, with my first official class ever in February 2019, and realising how much I actually enjoyed it.
After gaining real teaching experience (not just through books), I realised that I didn’t want to teach Spanish by memorised phrases, but by helping students truly understand the structure and beauty of the language itself.
Since 2019, I've been teaching Spanish to individuals and groups of all ages, both online and in person, focusing on building strong foundations in grammar, communication, and cultural understanding.
Through AVASpanish, I share printable resources, interactive videos, and practical tools designed to make Spanish learning clear, engaging, and entertaining.
I also offer ZUMBA® classes, blending energy, music, and movement as another joyful way to connect with Spanish-speaking culture.
Whether you're a complete beginner or brushing up your skills, my mission is to help you feel confident, capable, and excited about learning Spanish.

ZUMBA®
A little video showing you what it looks like when we start dancing our way to fitness!
ZUMBA® is a dancing based fitness class that uses predominantly latin music and dance techniques. The instruction is mainly visual as you mirror the instructor’s movements and learn from repetition. It can seem daunting at first but it’s so much fun and after a few sessions you’ll really start to feel the thrill of hitting those beats as you move. Join the Fiesta!
