🔮 El Futuro Simple 🔮
Master the Future Simple - Predict What Will Happen!
Your Quest: Welcome to the Futuro Simple! This mystical tense grants you the power to predict the future, make promises, and express what WILL happen. The good news? It's one of the EASIEST tenses to conjugate, you add the endings to the infinitive! The challenge? Memorising the 12 irregular stems (but they're the same ones you'll use for Conditional Simple, so learn them once, use them twice!).
⚠️
Why This Power Matters
The Futuro Simple is essential for talking about the future. Use it to make predictions, promises, express probability, and discuss what will happen. It's also incredibly useful in everyday Spanish for expressing uncertainty or guessing about the present!
⚡ SUPER EASY: All three conjugations (-AR, -ER, -IR) use the SAME endings!
This is what makes the future tense so easy! Unlike other tenses where you remove the infinitive ending, here you keep the entire infinitive and just add the future endings. Even better, all three conjugations use the SAME set of endings!
✨ The Magic Formula:
FULL INFINITIVE (-ar, -er, -ir) + FUTURE ENDING (-é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án) = Future tense!
Example: bailar + é = bailaré (I will dance)
| Pronombre |
BAILAR (to dance) |
COMER (to eat) |
VIVIR (to live) |
| Yo |
bailaré |
comeré |
viviré |
| Tú |
bailarás |
comerás |
vivirás |
| Él / Ella / Usted |
bailará |
comerá |
vivirá |
| Nosotros/as |
bailaremos |
comeremos |
viviremos |
| Vosotros/as |
bailaréis |
comeréis |
viviréis |
| Ellos / Ellas / Ustedes |
bailarán |
comerán |
vivirán |
💡
Pattern Recognition:
Notice that ALL endings have accent marks except nosotros! The endings are: -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án. These are the SAME for ALL verbs (regular and irregular)!
Only 12 verbs are irregular in the future tense, and they're irregular in a very predictable way: they use special stems instead of the full infinitive, but they still use the regular future endings (-é, -ás, -á, etc.). Even better, these are the EXACT same 12 irregulars you'll use for the Conditional Simple!
🔑 How Irregular Verbs Work:
IRREGULAR STEM + REGULAR ENDINGS
Example: tener → stem tendr- + é = tendré (I will have)
